It’s human. It’s natural. It can even be good.
We all experience anxiety to some degree in our lives. After all, anxiety is part of being human.
You might feel anxious on your first day of work, before you take an exam, or when you’re about to make a life-changing decision.
Anxiety can help motivate you to get things done during the day and to accomplish your goals.
Anxiety can be beneficial – or it can be destructive.
Prolonged, unmanageable levels of anxiety can be detrimental to your overall health and your relationships. Consistently high and uncontrollable anxiety can make your muscles feel tight, decrease your concentration, lead to feelings of irritability, and even make you feel hopeless and helpless.
You find yourself having less and less patience; little things are now setting you off, and you’re snapping at your kids or your partner.
Anxiety is slowly sucking the joy out of life.
You no longer enjoy doing the things you used to love.
No longer present when you’re having lunch with your friends, your mind is preoccupied with worries – about anything and everything. You try to distract yourself by watching your favorite show on Netflix, but the anxiety sweeps over you in waves.
It’s exhausting – you’re no longer in control of your life.
You have reached your breaking point – and you know that you need some help.
Therapy can help provide you with the skills you need to help overcome your anxiety and take back control of your life.
However, if your anxiety is high, it can be challenging to practice applying those learned skills to everyday life. At this point, we might discuss the integration of over-the-counter supplements or prescription medications into your treatment plan.
My role is to help manage and decrease your anxiety by prescribing medication (conservatively); making recommendations for over-the-counter supplements; and discussing how daily exercise, nutrition, and taking time for yourself can help you live a healthier and happier life.
Regain control. Start enjoying life again.
It’s time to start living life to the fullest, being present, and enjoying your time with family and friends.
